The election fever in Delhi is getting strong and high as the count-down for the election day has already started. As responsible citizens, it is the right of each and every eligible voter to cast his/her vote for the right candidate. In the previous years, political parties used to go door to door helping voters to identify their polling booth, and voters were supposed to visit local poll booth or check with the officials to verify if your name is present in the list. But this year, with mobiles and the internet, things have changed to much simple; just a few clicks away.
How to get my polling station?
Political parties in Delhi are now visiting their respective constituencies, as the heat of the campaign is getting stronger by the day. With mobiles and the internet, you can verify your name and details, get the details of your polling station. You can now know your assembly constituency in Delhi, your polling station address and other related details by contacting the helpline of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, through an SMS. You can now know your polling station details and verify your names in the electoral roll both online- Delhi Voters can log on to http://ceodelhi.gov.in/OnlineErms/ElectorSearch.aspx and click ‘Search by Name’ option. Alternatively, they can also click on the tab- ‘Get my polling station details’ or ‘View electoral rolls in PDF’ under the menu-”I want to“. In both cases, a voter will get complete details like: name as in the electoral register, name and number of the assembly constituency, room number with names of polling stations etc at their finger tips or on their mobiles.
Getting Voter Identity Slips
This year, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI), voter identity slips will be provided directly at every house on the eve of polling day, specifying the polling booth. Voters can also use this as an alternative to the photo identify card at the polling station for casting their vote. Both the busy youngsters and the elders who find it difficult to travel are benefited considerably with these facilities as they can now get all the related details sitting at their homes, or taking a minute out of their busy office hours. This move by the Election Commission will definitely motivate a large number of voters to participate in the Delhi Assembly elections, as time constraints is a problem for many for refraining from voting.
