Precautions for water storage during vacations

Precautions for water storage during vacation.Planning for a vacation? Besides travel safety, think a little of your home safety as well. When you are away from home, electricity and water are two issues that need constant checkups. Water is the most essential requirement of our life but sometimes may cause great hazard if left unattended. It is applicable for drinking water as well as for plumbing lines. Therefore, during vacation you must take double precautions for water storage as well as for water lines. Let’s make a quick list how to keep water safety at its best when you are away from home.

Put all faucet points closed

When there is nobody at home, water leakage may create a nasty trouble for your premise as well as for the adjacent areas also. It is mandatory therefore to keep all faucet points tightly closed so that there should not be any leakage of water. Besides you can keep the prime valve off if the water points are not properly checked and closed so that there should not be any water hazarded in your premise during your absence. It is a moor step to stop wastage of water as well.

Do not keep any stored water uncovered

Uncovered, unused water is the most perfect breeding place for mosquitoes. Before leaving you house for vacation, do not store water in bucket or tubs. There is high chance that the water may get contaminated as well as create unhygienic condition in and around the house.

Drain off reserved water from water purifier

Latest water purifiers keep additional water storage provision. Before leaving home for vacation, drain off the reserved water so that there is no chance of water contamination due to no use issue for a prolong time span. If possible before going out do a servicing of the machine and then put it in off condition to ensure the best quality water for your use after you are back at home.

Keep cover on your storage tank in the bathroom

You may have an extra reservoir for your toilet. Ensure that before you leave house the storage get remain completely covered. Otherwise the open stored water will create a water hazard in your absence for sure; at least it can be a peaceful breeding place of mosquitoes.

Do not keep any water in refrigerator

If you are away from home for a long time, say for 7-10 days, it is better not to keep water in bottles in freezer. Consumption of freeze cold water is neither good for health nor it is recommended as per water safety standard because after 48 hours purified water becomes equivalent to non-purified water.

Clean the swimming pool before you use

If you have a swimming pool in your premise, it is mostly recommended that after coming back from vacation you must clean and treat the pool water thoroughly. It is better to drain off water entirely from the pool before you take a long break. In case the job is not done, a thorough cleaning of the pool and refilling it with fresh water is always mandatory to avoid risk of water contamination.

Take care of water safety of your house before and after the vacation to remain healthy, fit and fine.
