Chinchwad is a suburb of Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial hub located to the northwest of Pune. The city lies in the Pune Metropolitan Area and is governed by a common municipal body (the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation or PCMC).
Connectivity
Chinchwad is well connected by road, rail and air, and hence is easily accessible from all parts of the state. The 4-laned Old Pune-Mumbai Highway helps in connecting Chinchwad to the city of Pune. The Pune International Airport lies at a distance of about 23km from the place. The Chinchwad Railway Station is one of the main halts for trains that run under the Pune Suburban Railway System, which connects Pune to its suburbs and neighboring villages. In addition to the BRTS system that is under-development in the area, the Maharashtra government has also proposed metro connectivity to Chinchwad, through the Pune metro rail project.
