Simple and Effective Ways to Clean Ceilings

Tips to Clean CeilingsWhile planning to clean any room, most people by instinct start off by leaning to the floor. While there is no denying the fact that a lot of dust gets accumulated on the floor, a glance at the ceiling may be sufficient to change your plans. Ceilings can attract an equally large number of dust particles including insect nests and cobwebs that can make it look dreadful if not cleaned regularly. The regular cleaning of ceiling is even more important in case of kitchen as dust particles from the ceiling can fall off into the food being prepared below. Thankfully cleaning of ceilings is not as difficult as it may look at the first instance. Let us take a look at some of the easier ways to get a clean ceiling using simple cleaning techniques manageable by just about everyone.

Focus on Cobwebs

Cobwebs are the biggest eyesore when it comes to cleaning the roof. Some cobwebs can be hard to find due to their transparent webs. Make sure you clean the roof using a cobweb broom that can clean even the most difficult to remove cobwebs. Make sure to check areas near electricity vents and light fixtures as they are the most common places for cobwebs.

Simple Ways to Clean Ceilings

Vacuum Clean the Roof: The best way to clean the ceiling is by using the vacuum cleaner that removes all the debris including cobwebs and insect nests. Use the brush attachment at the end of the vacuum tube and use the sucking feature to soak in the dust. You can use a step ladder or a stool to reach the ceiling if the vacuum cleaner is unable to reach the ceiling.

Manual Broom: The best way to make sure all small dust particles are removed from the ceiling is to use manual broom. You can use an old T-Shirt or cloth and warp is around the head of the broom. Use the cloth covered broom to clean the entire ceiling in brushing strokes. Make sure to spend extra time on the corners of the ceiling which remain a highpoint of dirt accumulation.

Use Damp Sweeper for Oily Ceilings: For cleaning ceilings with oily dirt accumulation like those in kitchen, use a liquid solution of warm water and soap. Dampen the broom by immersing it into the bucket of cleaning solution and run it along the ceiling in long strokes. After every brush from the soap solution, make sure to clean the area using a simple warm water solution. Let the roof air dry once you are done with the damp cleaning.

Some Precautions to take before Ceiling Cleaning

Before you embark on any ceiling cleanliness drive, it is essential to follow some basic precautionary measures to get the best results.

Cover up the furniture using a plastic sheet. Light weight furniture can be removed from the room temporarily to allow you free movement while cleaning the ceiling. The heavy furniture like sofas and tables must be covered using a plastic sheet to protect the surface.

Use protective glasses while cleaning the roofs as dust can easily fall into your eyes making it difficult to see clearly. Always use rubber protective gloves while handling brooms and other cleaning equipment to make sure you are safe from any contamination.

If the ceiling is too high use a step ladder or a stool to reach. Using a long handle broom is also recommended. Make sure you have someone holding the step ladder or the stool while you ride the ladder or the stool to reach the surface.
