Single Window clearance on fast track: clears projects worth 1,921 crore
Nine projects were approved by the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), this includes Container Corporation of India (Concor) proposed multi-modal logistics park which envisages a combined investment of Rs 1,921 crore. Combined together, direct employment for almost 1,873 people is being promisingly touted by these nine projects.
Concor received the approval of the SLSWCA for developing a multi-modal logistics park and rail-linked container terminal at Keonjhar Road, Jajpur at an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore. About thirty acres of land would be required by the logistics park and it would be set up on the lines of a public private partnership (PPP) mode.
The logistic park would include facilities such as distribution centers, warehouses, storage areas, truck services, offices, parking lots, truck terminals, container handling facilities, container rail terminal, air cargo points, cold storages, lorries, service stations, maintenance points, restaurants and hospitals. It would also be equipped with telecommunication facilities, weigh bridges, banks, recreation centers and health awareness units.
Chaired by the state chief secretary, the SLSWCA also cleared eight proposals in steel manufacturing such as recommended by the steel task force.
Among these projects is a proposal to set up a 0.60 million tonnes per annum pellet plant at Dudhakundi village situated in Keonjhar district. An investment of Rs 133.96 crore would be entailed by the project. Similarly, another such project entailing a cost of Rs 158 crore is being proposed to be established at Sairapenth and Mahadeijoda villages in Keonjhar district.
The SLSWCA has also decided to have a benchmarking study for steel projects with capacity beyond six million tonnes per annum by Central agencies such as Mecon and Engineers India Ltd and Projects Development India Ltd. The benchmarking study would assess water and land requirement of the mega steel plants.
Essel Mining & Industries Ltd has also proposed a pellet plant worth Rs 389 crore at Bonai in Sundergarh district. SSAB Energy & Minerals Ltd is also keen on establishing a iron ore beneficiation plant as well as a pellet project totally costing around Rs 248 crore. The project is intended to be established at Dhanurjaypur under Haromoto block in Keonjhar district.
Aryan Ispat and Steel Pvt Ltd is the sole proposer of a steel plant. Committing an investment of Rs 546 crore, the company has proposed a steel plant at Malda and Dhanurjaypur in Keonjhar district. Other proposals include a pellet plant at Sana Indupur and Bada Indupur (Sundergarh) at an investment of Rs 220 crore, a pellet plant at Haridajodi at a cost of Rs 123 crore and 60,000 tonne per annum ferro alloys plant at Anantpur (Cuttack) at a cost of Rs 110.95 crore, by T S Alloys Ltd.
Once these projects are operational, availability of steel would increase, reducing the prices of end products made from steel which in turn would mean lower cost of construction material. Moreover, with the huge employment opportunities that these projects offer would trigger housing projects for the migrating population in the region.
