Innovative Construction Technology: Mivan Technology and its Uses
Mivan Technology
Mivan is a quality aluminum structure developed by a European construction company known as Mivan Company Ltd. In 1990, the company from Malaysia began manufacturing these formwork systems. This innovative form of work is actually suitable for constructing houses in large quantities at a faster speed. The speed of construction needs to be given greater importance, especially for large housing projects or township project. In order to respond to these unusual challenges in terms of time, cost and quality, the real estate industry has come up with a smart method of construction known as the “MIVAN formwork system”. There are a number of buildings in Mumbai that are being constructed with the help of the Mivan technology, which has been declared economical as well as satisfying for the overall Indian real estate market.
Mivan technology has been used widely in Europe, Asia, Gulf Countries, and other parts of the globe. It is suitable for constructing a large number of houses in a short period of time using room size forms to construct walls and slabs in one constant pour on concrete.
How is Mivan Changing the Construction Methods?
There’s a lot of debate going on between the selection of traditional construction methods and Mivan technology. Let’s decode this with us:
Do you know that Mivan construction technology is changing the building construction methods? Well, one major concern of the construction industry is delays and workforce shortages. But, there’s availability of Mivan which is the best alternative that can remove all the issues of the construction industry.
Understanding Mivan construction technology
For trouble-free building of a large number of houses in a short amount of time, Mivan technology is a useful technology. This building technology, Mivan, is extensively used in Europe, the Gulf, and other regions of Asia. Mivan Company Ltd. is a European construction company that created a high-quality aluminum structure. Large real estate projects and buildings require immediate completion. So, this Mivan construction method is a suitable technology for housing developments. With this technology, it becomes easy to create quality aluminum building structures.
Know Mivan construction vs Brick construction
The big realtors these days are implementing the latest techniques for building construction. When the construction gets delayed due to any reason, it raises questions and doubts among the buyers. Mivan technique is capable of building housing units at a faster rate and also ensures a higher quality of the units. This technology of building construction has several compelling advantages but is it good over conventional construction methods?
There are some major differences between the Mivan and brick construction methods that buyers should know. We’ll discuss both these techniques of construction on different parameters:
Seismic Resistance :
The Mivan shuttering technique is all about creating strong aluminum formworks for buildings. With this construction technology, it becomes easy to make buildings that are durable even during earthquakes. So, developers can construct housing units and buildings that are seismic resistant.
Speed of building construction:
The Mivan mechanism is also useful in reducing the construction time as it boosts the construction cycle. A developer can complete the construction works by almost half compared to bricks or any other conventional construction methods.
Involvement of less labor work:
In the brick construction method, there will be a need for labor for various things such as rendering and masonry. However, this is not the case with the Mivan construction method. When you include this construction technique, it will minimize the requirement for labor work for construction activities.
In terms of low maintenance:
The overall maintenance cost of the Mivan method is lower than that of the brick construction method. This is because there will be no or less chance of seepage in the Mivan method. This latest method of construction uses free-flow concrete and ensures no construction joints. There’s also a difference between the Mivan construction vs brick construction cost. The initial investment of the Mivan method can be more expensive than the traditional brick construction method.
Finish and texture:
The Mivan construction technology also provides a smooth finish which will ultimately reduce the plastering cost. This is somewhat difficult to achieve when a developer is using conventional methods for building construction.
What are the disadvantages of Mivan construction?
In building construction, Mivan technology is of great importance because of its benefits. But, the use of this technology also brings some disadvantages which are mentioned here:
Limited to specific types of buildings:
The Mivan construction system is good for high-rise buildings, big housing, and large-scale projects. For small projects or complex building structures, this technology may not be suitable. Along with this, Mivan technology has limited design options that are available for a project. This is because it is based on pre-fabricated shuttering components.
A bit expensive due to the initial cost:
Also, it can be expensive as it requires proper construction equipment and formwork. So, this will lead to higher initial costs for the building development projects.
Need for skilled labor:
As the minivan construction technology requires the proper installation of the system, there will be a need for experienced and skilled labor. The process of finding skilled labor will be time-consuming and will also increase labor costs.
Major components of Mivan Formwork
Mivan Formwork components are divided into 4 types based on the location of use:-
1)For Wall Components
- Wall Panel, d) Rocker, c) Kickers, and d) Stub Pin
2) Beam Components
- Beam Side Panel, b) Prop Head and panel for Soffit Beam
3) Deck Components
- Deck Panels, b) Deck Prop and Prop Length, c) Soffit Length
4) Other Components
The other elements used excluding the wall, beam, and deck parts are internal and external soffit corners, exterior and interior edges for wall panels.
Area of use
Mivan technology is preferred for constructing a large number of houses in a limited period of time without any trouble. This technology also makes use of room size structures to construct slabs and walls. It permits shuttering for both slabs and columns in construction. Walls of huge room size, as well as floor slabs, are done right through this kind of Mivan shuttering. They are extremely sturdy and strong forms and are constructed with the utmost accuracy plus it is easy to manage.
The key uses of Mivan shuttering
- Easy to operate within less time
- Includes the 3S scheme of construction to give strength, safety, and speed.
- Slabs and walls are easily formed in one consistent development.
- Assembling and fitting the part of shuttering.
- Beam construction and column are removed.
- Construction of slabs and walls in a simultaneous way.
The main features of Mivan Formwork
The major features of Mivan Formwork are given below:
- Load Carrying Capacity
- Striking Time
- Durability
- Cycle Time
Construction techniques of Mivan Formwork
There are three unique construction techniques:
Assembling The Wall Reinforcing Steel:–
This is used to give structure to the building and hold the concrete until they gain 50% of the required strength. The aluminum formwork is set around the factory-made steel mesh which is instantly built on the construction site.
Placement Of Aluminium Formwork:-
Along with the wall strengthening steel, room-sized walls and structured floor slabs are built. The aluminum metal slabs are very easy to handle and are also very accurately made. The pin and spearhead system is used to combine these structures, these can be instantly destroyed once the concrete structure is ready.
Pouring Of Concrete:–
After the forms are shaped, high-quality concrete is poured into the structure. The cast is later removed to make way for a hard-concrete structure backed by wall strengthening steel. These aluminum bodies can be reused for nearly 250 times, which means minimum wastage from the construction site.
Limitations of Mivan formwork:
- Even though there are so many advantages of Mivan formwork the limitations can’t be ignored:
- Services after completing become somewhat difficult due to the small breadth of components
- It requires consistent planning as well as consistent elevations to be cost-effective
- Due to box-type construction, shrinkage cracks are possible to appear
- It is set in design once placed, as any change later becomes difficult
Conclusion:
The Mivan construction system is the latest technology that boosts the speed of construction and makes the structure more durable. The comparison between the Myone technology and brick construction methods indicates that Mivan is an ideal way to develop mass and bigger housing projects.
