Goa: Widows in Goa can now gift, sell properties without NOC
A controversial circular issued in 2018 which made it mandatory for Goan Widows to receive a No Objection Certificate from the deputy collector’s office before selling or gift their properties. But now, it has been removed with immediate effect.
As per the government, this order will be a big relief to all widows based in Goa, abroad, and to people in general.
The order to that effect has been announced by the government whereby all earlier circulars, orders, announcements, and instructions related to the issue of sale of land, gift, mutation, and power of attorney by widows have been removed.
The concerned public and stakeholders who were forced to get NOC of a widow sworn before the deputy collector for sale of each flat, and plot are now freed of the same.
The matter was considered before ministering for revenue Jennifer Monserrate and revenue secretary Sanjay Kumar by representatives of several institutions and concerned common people who had been affected by this rule.
