Vellore is a city and the administrative headquarters of the Vellore district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The city of Vellore is a center for several different sectors of economy, most notably tanneries and service sector industries.

Vellore is a place of great historical importance. The recorded history of Vellore dates back to the ninth century.
