Pune Airport is at a distance of just 8 km from Wagholi and takes about 30 minutes to reach. The closest railway stations to Wagholi are the ones located in Pandharpur, Baramati, and Katphal. Pune Junction, which is the main railway station of Pune, is located about 12 km away.


Auto-rickshaws, taxis, buses, and shared auto-rickshaws are used for short distances by the residents of this locale. Being just an extension in the eastern corridor of Pune, Wagholi didn’t witness much growth till about a decade ago. However, with the city centre reaching saturation point, people started exploring other options and this is where Wagholi came into the picture. Seeing this trend, developers started investing in this area from 2007, and the locality has not disappointed them.


Wagholi is situated on the Pune-Nagar Road and enjoys great connectivity with Sholapur Highway, Bund Garden and the airport, and the connectivity factor has helped this locality immensely. Add to this, the proximity to other IT hubs like Kharadi and Hadapsar has made this place a very conducive locality to live in.

Apartment prices in Wagholi have witnessed a see-saw effect in prices in the last three years. The Q2 (2014) sale prices of multi-storeyed apartments in Wagholi ranged between Rs 3,400 and Rs. 6,600 per sq. ft., while the rent per sq. ft. ranged between Rs 10 and Rs 11 for the same period. The sale prices of individual houses for Q2 (2014) was a little lower as expected, and ranged between Rs 3,750 and Rs 4,100 per sq. ft.


Commercial Market Trends


Although Wagholi is a locality that has more residential properties, commercial pockets are slowly on the rise. Owing to the increase in activity, and the population rise, many commercial hotshots are setting up base in this locality.


Major Challenges


The area is experiencing irregular power and water supply. Since the area is not part of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the residents seem to hit a roadblock when it comes to these issues. A complete turnaround is required to bring this situation under control, especially when the population is expected to increase in the near future.


In addition, though Wagholi is an upcoming suburb, social infrastructure is a cause of concern. The work on some of the roads, like the stretch on Alandi Road, has been completed but without railings. This has posed a major threat to motorists and pedestrians.
