Understand the nature of your room
So it is very important to understand the nature of the room (if it is a room to relax like bed room? Or a family place like living room?) before deciding the color, furnishings, accessories and placement of furniture in the room.
Arrangement of furniture and accessories in a room:
Many of us recognize that too much messed up room can create a feeling of anxiety but do not practice to have well arranged furniture in a room. A room with chairs along the wall, a big sofa in the front of the window, a big wall painting of tiger can make a person feel vulnerable. Human mind senses danger from the sharp edges, so some sharp edged furniture’s and bookshelf’s are not advisable for the room which is for family time or comfort like living room or bed room. A room like living room should have big open obstruction free
windows and comfortable low height sitting preferably with circular or square shaped arrangement to facilitate interaction. Limited, uncomfortable or undesirably height seating makes a person feels awkward and tense.
The arrangement of family photographs in the living rooms promotes the feeling of attachment but a side table packed out with the photographs can irritate a person who is trying to find a place to place his book or a glass of drink. On the other hand a table with flower vase with cheerful flowers next to a wide open window creates a happy and friendly mood.
Storage is a common problem and people tend to buy heavy furniture to create more storage space. This will make your room look like a storage place. Too much of heavy furniture gives a dull and lazy look to the room and makes you lazy too. Try to have light, moveable furniture for healthy, moving and full of energy life.
View from the window:
Having nature’s view is always more rejuvenating than gazing on manmade structures. Nature is the best teacher and human has an inborn tendency to respond positively to nature. Decorative curtains also ads to charm and this will give a new and fresh look to your house and this will refresh your life too.
Ceiling height:
Perception of the spaces may influence intellect and the ability to concentrate on work. An open space with the ceiling height above 10’ will help your mind open up and encourages you to take challenging tasks. Height ceiling also helps you to be more creative and in make abstract connections. The low ceiling space promotes a feeling of confinement and thus helps to concentrate on minute details.
