Factors for Growth in the Past

One of the biggest growth factors for the Poonamallee High Road has been the large number of healthcare centres scattered along the road, including hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and pharmacies. The two major hospitals of Chennai, Rajiv Gandhi General Medical Hospital and Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital are the most reputed healthcare landmarks situated here. The Poonamallee High Road withstands heavy traffic that moves between the eastern and western parts of the city. Three flyovers are also being constructed along this stretch.
