Ugadi is one of the most popular Indian festivals celebrated by various communities. Since Ugadi is all about ushering in a New Year, colorful decorations are as much a part of Ugadi as any other festival. From the traditional rangolis made in front of the main door of the house for welcoming the New Year to using metals and leave decors, the front door decorations come with numerous possibilities. This year Ugadi falls on March 21, 2015.

Here are five easy do-it-yourself front door decors you can indulge in this Ugadi. And what’s more, you do not need to be a rangoli expert to carry out these decor designs. So brace yourself to learn a few tricks to make your front door decor stand out this Ugadi.

Rangoli designs & readymade floor art: Ugadi is the right time to indulge in some exotic floor art. In case if you are a novice and have never tried your hand at floor art, it is a good idea to opt for a floor art stencil. There are many floor art stencil designs available in the market today. All one needs to do is to fill in the stencil slits with various colors and viola you have your exotic floor art ready, Make sure to use earthly and wooden colors instead of harsh colours to make your rangoli stand out from the crowd.

Use Creative or decorative door hanging: Floor art does not have to strictly confine to the floor. Use creative and decorative door hangings to attract positivity in your home this Ugadi. Metal and wooden wind chimes along with traditional door hangings are ideal irrespective of your house door setting. Make sure that the door hanging is located in such a way that it does not hinder the free entry of your relatives and guests.

Mango leaf and neem leaves: Instead of using colors for your front door, why not make use of traditional mango and neem leaves? Small plantain tree or decorative artificial banana tree: Banana tree not only has a religious significance, but is also considered to be part of the traditional Ugadi celebrations. You can try placing an artificial plantain tree in your front door to usher in the feeling of a traditional banana tree in your house. A decorative artificial banana tree can supplement your Ugadi celebrations brining a balance between traditional customs and modern day decor.

Brass door bells or temple bells: Another good idea to make Ugadi decors is to include brass door bells in your front door decorations. Brass door bells are considered holy as well as a symbol for good luck. Almost every household uses colour and lights as front door decors but using brass bells can make your décor stand out and recipient of many a compliments.
