Hidden electricity charges in BESCOM bills
It has been come in to light that there are sometimes hidden charges perceptible in BESCOM electricity bills which is usually not visible in the bills. It is found out that in the electricity bill of a certain apartment developed by a prominent developer in Hosur Road, Bangalore, the final amount of the bill did not tally with the break up amounts.
When an enquiry into the matter is carried out by the apartment association, it was found out that the discrepancy was due to the difference in load sanctioned and the load connected for which BESCOM charges penalty for excess load. In this particular instance, it was found out that BESCOM official calculated the load of fire pumps and booster pumps connected, which is exempted by the government for calculation of connected load. Subsequently, after the apartment association contacted the accounts department of BESCOM and the matter had been sorted out.
Hence, if you happen to be living in an apartment in Bangalore, make sure your apartment association approaches the accounts department of BESCOM, in case there is any discrepancy in the electricity bill amount.
