Children’s Day is a day for children to engage in fun and frolic. In India, Children’s day is celebrated on November 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. However, 20th November is universally celebrated as Children’s Day. The date 20th November was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the day in 1959, when the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. The day is marked with a lot of activities for children. Most schools and educational institutions celebrate the whole week dedicating to children starting from November 14 to November 20 conducting competitions, cultural and special programs for children.

Nehru had great love for roses and children. Because of his love and passion for children, his birthday has been celebrated as children’s Day. Apartment owners association and Residents welfare association can conduct various cultural and social activities for the fun and entertainment of the children in your apartment complex or in your neighborhood. You can organize following events for the fun and entertainment of the children.
- Tribute to Nehru: On the Children’s Day, events start with paying tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru. You or apartment owners association can arrange a photo of Nehru were children pay homage by offering Rose flower to Nehru who loves roses and children.
- Children’s Day Speech: Organize Speech contest assigning a subject. The subject matter can be chosen from any area such as civic activities, culture, education, Importance of Children’s Day, About Jawaharlal Nehru etc.The main objective of the contest should be to stir the imagination and creativity of the speaker. You or your apartment owners association can also invite special guest for giving valuable advice to our future generation.
- Painting Competitions: Children love paintings and enjoy creating their own arts or masterpiece. Organize painting competition with themes such as green living, pollution, safety or any latest issues etc.
- Fancy Dress Competitions: Fancy Dress competitions are exciting times for the children. Children can be made to dress up like famous national leaders, politicians, and other famous personalities.

- Party for underprivileged children: Apartment owners association and Residents welfare association can join together to treat or organize a party for some underprivileged children. If this is done in every neighborhood, imagine how many smiles there will be across the nation.
A “Children’s Day”, as an event, is celebrated on various days in many places around the world, in particular to honor children. Some schools and educational institutes celebrate Children’s Day as Children’s Week starting from November 14 to 20.
