Independence Day speech: Ideas on how to do it

This year, we will be revelling the 66th anniversary of the Independence Day of India on 15th of August 2012. Independence Day is celebrated every year in order to commemorate the anniversary of the nation. India became a sovereign nation on this day and on this occasion the tricolour flag was first hoisted by Jawaharlal Nehru at the Red Fort.

To add significance and charm to the event, an Independence Day speech plays a vital role. As followed since time immemorial, the Prime Minister of the country gives speech to his subjects. Independence Day speech can be given in various places like schools, colleges, auditoriums and so on.  This day speaks about the saga of the sacrifice of Indian freedom struggle and the views on current & future India. Perhaps, not everyone will be completely aware about how to give a speech. Following are some ideas;

Do a complete research on the Indian political history:

A person giving a speech should beforehand do a complete research on the Indian history. He/she should be aware about some of the significant freedom fighters and politicians. The sacrifices and the hierarchies of the political authority in the past should also be considered.

Plan accordingly the key aspects to talk and the timing:

A speech has to be precisely and clearly made keeping in mind about what should be catered to the public. Not everything since the independence period can be included. Mention the prominent dedications and commitments of the leaders towards their countrymen. It is important to know the time duration of the speech so that you you can prepare it without the content being neither too less nor too long. Overall, the important message to the public should be given in a clear manner.

Presentation of the speech:

A speech has a certain sort of format depending on the topic. The speech can be divided into parts and paragraphs. Following are the ideas;

a) The initial part will cover greetings to the audience or guests.
b) The second will contain the introduction of the speech with topics like; what is Indian Independence Day? Why is it celebrated? Who are the freedom fighters?
c) The third paragraph can contain the present condition of India and the plans for the future along with the conclusion.
d) The conclusion can be some interesting points regarding the future of the country and appreciating the audience for their presence.

Speech rehearsal:

Once the speech is ready with all the important points and the message to be delivered, the person giving the speech should read it thoroughly and practice the speech beforehand. The practise can be done by reading the speech in the presence of your family members or friends. You can record the speech on your mp3 and listen to it  and ask for the feedback.

Well presented:

It is important that you are well presented for the speech on the main day. Ensure that you are dressed up appropriately for the event.
