Vastu Do’s and Don’ts for Happy Family

Vastu for Happy FamilyVastu is an ancient concept of science that deals with the flow of energy through different directions, namely, North, South, East, West and their derivatives. It states some guidelines that should be taken into account while designing and building living environments so that they exist in harmony with the physical and metaphysical forces of nature.

As they say, ‘home is where the heart is’, taking care of our homes would ensure a healthy life for us. It is believed that many problems arise due to vastu-related defects, and while some may choose to ignore it, it is not wise to do so.

When constructing or designing your house, there are certain do’s and don’ts to consider. We list a few for reference.

Vastu Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do Enhance the East: Vastu states that Indra, The King of Gods, rules the East and so that direction must be looked after well to appease him. Keeping the rooms in this direction neat, clean, well ventilated and lit will ensure prosperity.
  • Do’s for installing a name plate: When installing a name plate, fix it at the chest level of a person. If fixed at a lower level, it would result in the person’s suppression and status decline. Have boldly and clearly printed words on the plate.
  • Do’s for keeping important documents: Keep all important papers in the north east direction. Certificates, bank papers, testimonials etc. should be kept in this direction to ensure a conflict-free life. This direction is considered to keep conflicts in your life away. Having a swastika at the place where you store the papers would ensure their protection.
  • Do’s for hanging photos: Placing the owner’s picture with their name will bring them fame and wealth. This direction is supposed to bring in north-eastern magnetic energies that help you rise in life.
  • Vastu for Lighting a lamp in the house: Lighting a lamp or keeping a diya in this direction would ward off negative energies and bring prosperity and fame to the family.
  • Make your presence felt: Make your presence felt in the south, west and southwest portion of the house. When sleeping, keep your head to the south.

Don’ts for Vastu

  • Don’t install the main door of your house in the south west. The south west is dominated by Agni, the God of Fire, and the sun’s harsh infra-red rays come from this direction. Keeping a door in this direction would make6 the bad energies enter the house and affect your health and brings you defamation.
  • Never place the water tank in the South west. Water and fire don’t match and it would bring conflicts between relatives, friends and employees. You will face litigation and bank problems.
  • Don’t place mirrors in the south direction. It would bring about confusion in the family and you will be blamed for things you didn’t do.
  • When keeping indoor plants in the house, do not keep cactus and other prickly plants.
  • You shouldn’t store old, useless items or waste materials inside the house. This will prevent positive energy from entering the house and it will also result in health issues.
