Vastu for Compound Wall
From commercial to residential projects, compound wall is an intrinsic part of every building. While serving as demarcate of the boundary of the property, a compound wall also acts as the first layer of protection from unwanted entrants. Vastu Shastra has underlined the importance of having a compound wall which is compliant with Vastu principles.
Here is a list of most essential Vastu guidelines when it comes to building a compound wall.
Timing of Compound Wall Construction: Vastu shastra gives due importance to the timing of the compound wall construction. According to Vastu guidelines, a compound wall must be constructed as soon as the well and storage sections of the plot are constructed. Since the purpose of the compound wall is to offer a protective layer, it must be built before any construction is started at the actual site.
Construction Streamline: Vastu principles underline the importance of beginning the construction of a compound wall from the South eastern direction. Apart from beginning the construction from the south eastern coordinates, the construction must always begin on an auspicious day. The timing of construction of the compound wall must be given equal significance as the bhoomi puja or final house warming mahurat timing. While constructing the compound wall, north and eastern sides can be left open and constructed only once the southern and eastern sides are completed. If the building is being built in compliance with Vastu principles, the actual building must be located in the south western corner of the plot. In such a scenario, the northern compound wall can be left open and the space used as a dumping ground for building and construction material.
Size of the Compound Wall: There are clear guidelines underlining the size and the overall height of the compound wall. Irrespective of a residential or a commercial property, the compound wall must never be higher than the building. The higher the compound wall there is more likelihood of it cutting out natural light. Since sunlight plays an intrinsic role in enhancing the positive vibes of the property, a compound wall must never be too high.
Thickness and Directions: Since southern and western directions are not considered auspicious according to Vastu principles, compound wall in both these directions must be a tad thicker than the other directions. Apart from the vastu guidelines, south western part of the compound wall gets in direct contact with the sun rays. The thicker the south western section there is more likelihood of it absorbing the bright sunshine. Having a thick compound wall in the west and south directions therefore offer a cooler place in the summer season.
General Vastu Guidelines for Compound Wall
Once the compound wall is built according to Vastu Shastra, other important guideline as per Vastu is to avoid any gate in the southern direction.
Unless the site faces the south direction, one should avoid a south facing entrance gate. Gates should always open in a clockwise direction.
Another important Vastu principle is to have two gates instead of one for entrance. One gate can be used by residents and the other can be used for vehicles.
