Chengalpattu Thiruporur Road is a neighbourhood located in the south-western parts of Chennai. The locality is governed by Municipality of Poonamallee, coming under the Thiruvallur district. Other prominent areas located close to it are Alapakkam, Thenur, Santhi Nagar, Anna Nagar, Chengalpattu, Indira Nagar, VOC Nagar. It has close proximity to SH58. Chengalpattu is situated at a distance of 13.6 km while other localities like Santhi Nagar, located at a distance of 11.8 km. This locality has experienced tremendous growth due to presence of IT Parks in Central Avenue, Mahindra World City such as Ascendas IT Park, Zoho IT Park, KRISP IT Park etc.
Connectivity
The most popular mode of public transport here are the buses, both State-run and private. Auto-rickshaws are the next most popular mode of transport. The Chennai MTC buses connect Poonamallee with other parts of Chennai.
It has excellent connectivity to Chennai International Airport which is located at a distance of 41 km via Chennai - Nagapattinam Hwy/Chennai - Trichy Highway.
Paranur, Chengalpattu Junction, Reddipalayam, and Singaperumal Koil are its nearby railway stations. However, Chengalpattu is the nearest railway station to Chengalpattu which is located at a distance of 4 km via SH58.

the Kodambakkam-Sriperumbudur, Tambaram-Mudichur-Sriperumbudur, Tambaram - Mudichur - Sriperumbudur and Pallavaram - Thoraipakkam roads and the link between Poonamallee Bypass and Mount Poonamallee High Road were proposed to be widened.
