Chhath festival is observed to seek blessings of the Sun, pray for prosperity and health of the loved ones. The devotees offers various puja essentials to the God which usually pile up in the bank and get deposited in the river bed, lot of plastic bags, bottles, glasses, plates make up the pile on the bank. The Delhi government officials said that they are going to take care of the sanitations, water supply, ambulance, mobile toilet vans among other measures. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will clean up the Ghats before and after puja by collecting all the discarded things gathered from the offerings.
