Heard that the government plans to spend Rs 100 crore to meet the requirements of Chetpet lake restoration in Chennai and other water bodies in Chennai and other cities. Combined water supply schemes have been announced for Madurai, Vridhunagar, Sivaganga, Nagapattinam, Vellore, Salem, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Pudukkottai and Thanjavur districts at a cost of Rs 745.67 crore. :)

Hi,
Now the govt is planning to invest crs to face problem of scarcity in certain location of chennai in 2015. Govt is trying to improved few combined water supply scheme.

@ All..lets us hope for the best...It is expected that the recently inaugurated second phase of Krishna project might solve crisis problem to some extent.

Hi..Subramanium..the water stored in reservoirs of Chennai city is not even half of the total storage capacity...it is sufficient for next four months only.Since the Krishna drinking water canal faced damage at Ubbalamadugu near Varadapalayam, the supply to Chennai has been restricted.The repair works has been initiated but things will get normal after minimum four months

Hi Kunal..i hear that Nemelli desalination plant will supply 100 million litre drinking water to the city. Moreover government is also planning various schemes in various cities and areas too. And why the inflow of Krishna water has decreased.??

Hi Rajiv..Although the government has promised ..but currently the situation is not stable. Chennaimay face water crisis. The inflow of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWS) in Andhra Pradesh is decreasing thus the possibiity of water scarcity increases.

No I don't think..it is because Tamil Nadu government assured that Chennai will not face any water crisis despite failed monsoon. It has lots of hope with the commissioning of the Nemelli desalination plant in the Chennai city.
