Q: Hi ..i am buying an apartment of Rs 1 crore (slightly more than that). Hoe much service tax i have to pay..??

Hi,,, this hike in service tax is due to decrease in tax abatement from 75 percent to 70 percent which increases the cost of housing in this segment.

Hi vivek..what is the resin behind increasing this service tax..?? It has forced the developers to increase the cost of acquiring high-end homes or flats which will ultimately hit the pockets of customers.

Hi rituraj..service tax has been increased to 3.6 percent from erstwhile 3.09% for house worth Rs 1 crore or more (carpet area of 2,000 sq ft or more).

Hi Gireesh...if you are buying an apartment of Rs 1 crore then you have to pay Rs 3.60 lakh as service tax after April 1, 2013 . But if you are planning to pay before or till March 31, 2013..then you will have to pay Rs 3.1 lakh.
