Vacancy of shops in malls are increasing

Q: Why are shops in many malls being vacant?

Many foreign brands are vacating their outlets in India and going back to their homeland. I think the business is going down nowadays. But I hope, in cities there is no such issue of less business because the malls are always full with buyers and retailers, though im not sure how many of them do actually buy stuff..

Still guys.. foreign brands and some other standard products or services do not prefer common retail spaces. They are only interested in malls. They may even prefer independent standalone buildings, but usually they look for posh structures.

Yes, you are right.. when a shop in some complex is available for half the rent of that in a mall then many people would prefer the first one..

Probably because the rental rates are very high in malls.

Hello, the footfall of the mall also determines and plays a huge role in getting a shops sale counter ringing.

I completely agree with the above. Certain shops might not be successful due to direct competition from other shops in the mall.

Shops opening and vacating a mall is not indicative of anything significant.
