Is there any issue with renting space in malls for business?

Q: I have been observing that many spaces in malls are not occupied. Any particular reason?

You should also check if there is enough parking space, 24/7 security, proper maintenance and how are the basic facilities available in the mall, etc before investing in there.

There are some malls located in the outskirt of the city which do not get much consumers. Then what’s the point in paying so much and setting up business there.

There is another important factor - location of the mall. If the location is good and attracts many customers then it is good to go ahead or else give it up.

I too think except prices there is no big issue in renting space in malls. when a shop in some complex is available for half the rent of that in a mall then many people would prefer the first one..

As far as I know, major issue is the rates.. The prices are too high in malls either to buy or rent a retail space. They are at least 3 times higher than the old type commercial structures.

The reason i think is there are lot of number of shopping malls than it is required and some of them are not properly designed. And also it depends upon the purchasing power of the people. If a person is not getting business in a particular space he has rented for, he wont spend money for rent when he is not getting proper business.
