Q: India had enough water in the past , but reports now in says that the country has become water stressed and moving towards scarcity...comment please!!
well Shefali, there is an international recognised amount of water that is required per person per year...when this goes down that country is called water stressed and when its down drastically that country is termed water scarce.. The availability has to be below 1700 cu.m per person per year.
Hey, the government should take immediate steps to stop wastage through leakages.. many cubic liters of water can be saved.. and these precious water can be used for other purposes than wasting it.
Hi ..i think the government and people together should join hand to solve this problem. And what can be done is waste water treatment, water recycling and reclaiming for use can help.
In India at some places there is drought while in other flooding happens. managing rivers as done in china can help... river management can include: *Aforestation and soil conservation *livestock management *treatment before disposing sewage * prevent pollution from agriculture by using bio- fertilizers and bio-pesticides.
well Lohit... this is the case with almost all the developing nations...water mismanagement along with fluctuating climatic conditions has lead to water crisis.
yea and due to poor treatment infrastructure, the amount of waste water treated is quite less... and such untreated water causes much pollution. this cannot even be used for irrigation as it reduces the crop yield..
