Hello, there is a big misconception that home loans are available not only for the purchase of a house .
you can use loans to
Buy land and construct house
Renovate an existing property.
but the percentages of interest and terms and conditions varies from bank to bank.

Most of the banks have some basic criterion to select the borrower, his credit history is thoroughly checked and most banks also insist on borrower take alife insurance so that they can recover their money back if the borrower dies or some unavoidable mis happenings happen.

well santhosh, it is for sure that the home loan market is what is driving real estate in India.without these loans the real estate market would never have picked up.. loans are availed by home buyer and developers as well..

Hi, i will lik e to add that bank usually lends between 75-80 per cent of the agreement value and the borrower has to arrange the rest of the amount. RBI restricts it at 75% but some banks do give upto80% ...
