The Punjab and Haryana high cour in its May 2013 order had imposed Rs 60 crore and Rs 7 crore fine on the company and its director for delay in completion of the six-laning project and directed NHAI to take over the project and commence work immediately. but this was challenged by the concessionaire Soma Isolux which moved the supreme court.
Well the supreme court has now ruled that the concessionaire can shift the toll plaza and also extended the project deadline to march 2014.this will result in having 3 toll plazas within a 65 km radius.
Well the national highway authority of India had approached the supreme court to review its verdict on the stalled six-laning of Panipat-Jalandhar stretch on NH1 that allowed the shifting of the toll plaza and the extension of the project till march
The original deadline was in 2012 but now the court has extended to march 2014 and the shifting of the toll plaza has given more profit to the private organization rather than the public.
