Yes, the pollution level in Kochi is really bad. I recently read a report which said that Kochi is the 24th worst polluted city in the country. These industries are the main problem, they don't adhere to the rules that the government has laid down, and the government don't take any action against them. The Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM) is more than the limit it should be, and in areas like MG Road, Kalamassery, and Ernakulam South it is the worst. So many people in the city are falling sick because of the pollution. Many people get astha or some respiratory problem. This is very sad what is happening to our beautiful city.

Oh yeah, it is very true. You should try and live in Kochi, it is becoming unbearable the past few years. There is so much pollution in the air because the population has increased, there are more vehicles on the street now, and also there is a lot of open drains and garbage is thrown on the street. All these industries in the city emit more than the permissible limit and the government is not doing anything about it. Someone told me that there is only around 15 per cent of oxygen content in the air that we breathe in Kochi and most of the air contains increasing levels of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons.
