New Master Plan for Hyderabad

Q: Is Hyderabad looking to completely revamp the city with a number of infrastructural projects? And will these facilities be extended to the old city of Hyderabad?

Also nobody should start new projects on land that is meant for some other purpose. Land encroachments should be a strict no no! Yes there are also going to be lots of developmental changes in the old city of Hyderabad so that it does not experience stagnated growth and the culture and heritage of this city can be kept intact. The government plans to identify areas in old Hyd where there is good connectivity and ring roads such that development can take place all along the stretch at a cost of 10 crore per km. I think participatory planning must be followed such that citizens also are involved in the changes of development process.

Hyderabad is looking to make the plan without referring to any other master plan made for other cities. That's why they are particular on ample research for this project. The land space for Hyd has increased drastically and now there's space for Hyderabad's rapid growing population. A master plan is ususally for an already developed city but it can also be for underdeveloped cities like Raipur and Chattisgarh. The entire purpose of a master plan is to efficiently develop a city. The government and citizens must work together. Key areas for development are noted and areas where educational institutions, parks, malls, hospitals and so on should come up are identified. New building regulations are made and must be strictly enforced. All these factors leads to a well-planned city which is exactly what Hyderabad is striving towards.

This is very good for Hyderabad because 20 years ago, it was only 300-400 square km. Now the city has expanded like nobody's business and the increasing population has put a lot of strains on the existing infrastructure resources. That is why such a plan needs to be undertaken. Also to develop the city according to its key requirements. That's why a detailed study is to be made on the core areas and non core areas of Hyd and based on that the plan will be formulates. Only thing is planning and implementaion will take close to 2 decades. But still when it happens it will very good for Hyderabad.

Yes there is a new master plan for hyderabad city! :) The new plan is supposed to relocate 30 million people of the city i.e 3 times the present population to places on the outskirts of Hyd past Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Uppal and Kapra. Also the 2000 new colonies in the core zone of Hyderabad will be given a face life, as they will be provided with good educational, recreational, health-related and commercial facilities that will improve the entire city's worth and potential!
