Even a small diversion in such a big major project will cost a lot. The estimated cost of this small diversion will be about 200 crore rupees!! And the state government of Telangana has to bear it as it was their decision. And also, there are a few mosques and temples in this area as well. Dismanteling them may lead to tensions.

Hey no I dont think that the authorities are planning to divert the metro track rowards the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand,.. They are infact clearing the track away from it and towards the Tilak park. :) But I heard that the traders in this area are not too happy with the decision too.

Plans are underway to divert the alignment of the rail way track by a little and away from the Sultan Bazar. But the government officials are confused about the limits of the area and are not sure about the Badi - Chowdi and Sultan bazar limits, They want to divert the track towards the Tilak Road junction.

Sultan Bazar along with being a huge trade center, also falls near the Mahatma Gandhi Bus stand, So if ther Metro Rail Track in diverted towards that area, then the already existing traffic coming from Abids and Charminar area can increase here.

If this is the case then the L & T people will have to change the entire plan and alignment of the metro rail in these areas. This will delay the project even further. :( But is it even possible to do such a thing?

Hello, yes you have heard it right, The CM of Telangana has very recently said that the Metro Rail Project will have to go underground near Sultan Bazar, the Assembly and other heritage sites in the city so as to not damage the monuments and the large number of shops in that area.

The CM has taken a leaf out of the Bangalore's metro rail project, where the metro rail goes underground near Bangalore's Vidhan Soudha, this decision has made all the traders and businessmen in these areas happy as it will not affect their business.
