Details about the property taxes in Hyderabad for Andhra owned buildings
Q: Hello, I have recently read that the property tax is being collected from the Telangana Government for buildings that are owned by the Andhra Government. Is this news true?
During the undivided Andhra, around Rs300 crore was collected as professional tax from employees working in Hyderabad. Commercial tax department credits 95% of this amount to GHMC. After the bifurcation, the department was split up and now AP collects tax from employees, who are from Seemanandhra and do not pay anything to GHMC.
Annually Rs 100 crores was paid to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC), as property taxes. It was paid in three installments. After the creation of Telangana, Andhra has stopped paying property taxes. Telangana keeping the policy of division on a 58:42 ratio said that it would pay Rs 48 crores annually.
Yes, this is true. But the Andhra government is not agreeing to pay 58 crore rupees. As a first installment, it agreed to pay Rs 16 crores. Andhra is not coming forward with its share of the money.
Earlier, the property tax and the professional tax for buildings that were in Hyderabad were paid by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. But now i think the government wants the property tax to be paid by the Andhra Pradesh Government, as the state has been divided, and is no longer one.
Hey yes this is true. The telangana governemnt has recently issued statement that the property that is owned by the Andhra Pradesh Government that are located in the joint capital of Hyderabad should pay taxes to the Telangana Government from the coming year.
