Manual security is always the best, you know. There are some apartment buildrs and projects who are offeringmaintenance staff as well as manual security in apartments nowadays. So apartments can be good I think in terms of security.

One of the most basic things that you should check for is the compound all, you know. A higher compound wall is always safer. But many of the apartments nowadays do not have compound walls. So what you can do is make sure you select a project that has a proper outer infrastructure.

Be careful of sliding doors. which open completely. these can be really awesome when it comes to having a good view and having sunlight pouring in, but they can be risky as robbers can get in through these door easily.

Get Renters Insurance, you know if you are taking the place for rent. renters insurance will protect the value of your possessions in case they are stolen or destroyed by a disaster. Your landlord may have an insurance policy, but those generally only cover the building you live in, not your personal belongings.

I strongly suggest that you install a security system in the apartment , you know. Safety comes first. A burglar alarm system is would be really helpful in case there ever is a break n in your house.

Make sure that there is a fire exit in the apartment that you choose. specially, if your flat in one among the top floors of the apartment building. In case of a fire accident, an emergency fire exit wil be the safest.

But first and the foremost thing you should do when you are taking a place anywhere is to research the local crime rate in the area, For example, in Hyderbad, areas in and around Chandanagar are known for a lot of crimes. Its a risk to take a house anywhere in places like these.

I agree, thefts are not the only kind of hazards that can happen. In case of apartments, if you look at them, most of the apartments nowadays are compact, and in this way, there is a huge chance of fire hazards and accidents taking place. Ensure that your kitchen has got good ventilation.

Personally, I think that the apartments are usually at a lower risk as compared to the independent houses, as they are a cluster of houses close together. And I think that nowadays, there is an option to have a video intercom facility as well, where you can atually see the person before letting them in.

Security is one of the most important that you have to think about when you are moving to a new place. In case of apartments, nowadays many apartments are providing intercom buzz in facility, where you can talk or sometimes see the person before letting them inside your house. I suggest that when you are looking for apartments, you narrow down those apartments which have the intercom facility as well.
