Q: Hello, I was following the Miralam beautification project but for a while now I haven't heard about anything that has happened? What xactly is going on? Is this still happening?
Hello. I was talking to a known GHMC official who happend to say that some compound wall works were done without consulting any experts which left colonies in Hasan Nagar in a bit of a sticky situation. The corporation then had to destroy a fair bit of things and reconstruct them.
Another park is also expected to come near the Sewage Treatment Park (STP) where basic facilites like roads are being laid out still. Also you know there will be three entry plazas one from Bahadurpura, No. 9 lane and Rajendranagar circle.
I heard some info that only 40 % to 50 % of the compound and grill have been laid so far and work is going on i the No. 9 area where greenery, pathways, trucks and seating arrangements will be made.
How so typical of the civic bodies. You know a board was supposed to be started called, Miralam Tank Development Authority, that did not start, which is for another day, and it was suppposed to look after the beautification work. It would be headed by the state chief secretar while the GHMC commissioner would be the vice chair and managing director for this project.
Exactly it was supposed to be completed in phases and the first phase included taking up works that would cost 10 crores with which a tank along the bund, entry plazas, walking, jogging, cycling tracks, theme parks, landscaping, tree plantation, island development, boating, illuminations, fountains and many other things were supposed to come up.
Yes. You are right. The work involved an entire stretch of land along the tank of about 7 kms. One funny thing here is that in June last year, the commissioner of GHMC Somesh Kumar had vowed that all this work would be done by January but is now left with nothing to show.
Did you know the Greater Hyderabad Metropolitan Corporation (GHMC) came up with this plan a year ago to develop the located on the south of Musi a little more than year ago at a staggering budget of Rs. 45 crores.
One more factor contributing to this is that the electricity board, the engineering team, and the bio diversity team have not been their best and have failed to keep the coordination going. This is a huge loss for the GHMC.
Of course, this had to happen. There was no proper planning on the corporation's part. It was like a dog chasing tail situation. They exactly did not know what they were doing by they were which has led to be project being way way from its schedule.
The government's plan is to make it like the Sabarmati Ashram area in Gujarat which has become a benchmark for other such riverfront areas. But several works that were sanctioned earlier have not been completed and does not seem like it is going to because it is moving vvery slow.
So the new Telangana government has decided to remodel and beautify the Miralam tank to make it a reecretional place for the people in the old city area of Hyderabad but it has already been quite long since it was decided but nothing has turned up as yet.
