At the same time the statement indicates that in case any demolition had already been planned or was in the pipeline, the agency connected must look for prior approval of the Urban Development Minister. The order would not apply to action taken in pursuance of court orders and a review of the existing policy governing demolitions would be completed by it.
Do you know Lekshmi? A group of residents from hutments in East Delhis Shahdara had put up a demonstration outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals Kaushambi residence against the demolition of their homes a week earlier.
@Lekshmi, But It was later learned that the hutments were interrupt upon government land. Mr. Kejriwal then got in touch with the local MLA, Ram Nivas Goyal, who then get involve and put a spanner in the demolition following which the protest outside the CM’s residence, too, was called.
@Lekshmi, The official twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party posted the decision taken by the government. Delhi govt issues order prohibiting any demolition in the city! Nobody should be deprived of shelter until proper arrangements are done.
@Suresh, You are right.....The Govt. had decided to review the existing policy governing demolitions, which it intended to complete as soon as possible. Till then, various agencies associated with carrying out such demolitions in Delhi were cautioned against carrying these out.
It's both good or bad for the Delhites.Yes, the decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. It was not yet clear till what time this order will be in force.
Right Lekshmi,
The government has issued directions to various agencies such as the New Delhi Municipal Council, North, East and South Delhi Municipal Corporations, Delhi Jal Board, Environment and Forests, Revenue Department not to carry out any demolition till this review is completed.
