25 Crore to be sanctioned to the water board in Secunderabad Cantonment to solve water problems
Q: Hello. I am Nagesh. I live in Secunderabad, and there is a huge water problem in this area. I have read n recent news that some money has been granted to the Secunderabad Cantonment board to solve the water issues in the area. Is this true?
Well, this is good news. The areas and colonies that come under the Secunderabad Cantonment have been having a severe water problem since a very long time, and it is high time that the Government did something about it.
Actually, the problem is much deeper. It is the problem of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). HMWSSB recently announced that the Cantonment owes Rs. 20 crore as a tax, and that is why there is no water supply there to that particular place.
Residents of the Secunderabad Cantonment have been facing the water woes due to shortage or irregular water supply, and the SCB officials cited lack of funds to address the situation. The Finance Minister had suggested release of funds in a phased manner starting with Rs. 10 crore or Rs. 15 crore.
Yes Nagesh, this is very much true. The ward members, Mr Keshav Reddy has asked for Rs. 25 crore from the government to revamp the Cantonment’s infrastructure related to water supply, including pumping and distribution network also.
