Hi Mr Tushar,

Delhi Metro sources said that DUSIB had identified an alternative land, but there was opposition from some of the area residents. Upon completion, the phase-III of the Delhi Metro will add 140 km to the existing operational network stretching over 190 km. The Kalindi Kunj area falls under the Janakpuri WestBotanical Garden corridor while the other two plots fall under the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor.

Hi ,

As per my knowledge, Delay in acquisition of land is holding back the completion of the Delhi Metro's Phase-III work. The Mukundpur to Mayapuri stretch, which measures 12.5km is part of the list, as is the Mayapuri-Lajpat Nagar stretch. Both stretches have land areas, measuring between 46m and 84m, which is holding up work. While one 84m stretch consisting of a slum has held up the construction of the viaduct in Punjabi Bagh, another 83m stretch again a slum has held up work on the Naraina viaduct. The Punjabi Bagh station is also incomplete because of non-availability of land.

Hi Tushar,

In my point of view, the biggest set back, however, is the depot scheduled to come up in Kalindi Kunj. Here, 2.15 lakh sqm of land, belonging to the DDA and UP irrigation department, is set to house the depot for line 8 Janakpuri to Botanical Garden. Without this depot, the line cannot be commissioned, admitted the official. However, around 1 lakh sqm of DDA land is yet to be cleared for the construction.

Hi guys,

I heard from news that, the land has been officially handed over by DDA but residents of Shram Vihar, which falls in that part, have gone to court on the acquisition. DMRC hasn't been able to access the area as a result. 108 plots in Trilokpuri have been handed over to Delhi Metro, but in reality, the land is yet to be cleared for construction work.

Hi Tushar,

As per government sources , after the letter was received, two of the delayed pockets have been handed over to DMRC. The depot at Vinod Nagar was stuck as the permission for tree-cutting was awaited. This has now been given to DMRC. Also, a part of the land which falls between the Lajpat Nagar and IP extension stations has been handed over physically to Delhi Metro.

Hi Mr Tushar Sinha,

Setback caused due to several land acquisition issues may cause the Delhi Metro to miss the 2016 deadline to complete work under the phase-III of construction, especially in the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor. The problem areas in the longest stretch under construction of the Delhi Metro include a plot of land in Trilokpuri, a depot in Kalindi Kunj, and two plots of private land in Punjabi Bagh and Naraina.

@ Tushar,

As per sources, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Mangu Singh had written a letter to Delhi Chief Secretary D.M. Spolia on November 11 seeking his intervention in the matter. There was a meeting held to discuss the plot of land owned by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) in Trilokpuri where over 100 families, predominantly Muslim, from block-15 of Trilokpuri were to be relocated. The relocation was to accommodate construction of viaducts from the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor.
