The Corporation would also work to establish a cricket ground and towards preparing a detailed project report, it would spend Rs. 1 crore, he said and also spoke on his other proposals to improve sports in the city
On the water supply front, he said that the Corporation would strive to get the State Government funds to the tune of Rs. 54.81 crore to improve Aliyar water supply in Kurichi and Kuniamuthur. And as part of the proposal, the civic body would construct overhead tanks as well.
There are other plans to establish two abattoirs in Ukkadam and Thudiyalur at Rs. 33.42 crore, a new premises to house the South Zone office, construct a bus terminus in Vadavalli, erect a sewage treatment plant to treat sewage flowing into Singanallur Tank and spend Rs. 10 crore to construct a plant to produce green manure.
SOme other announcements that were done in the session included setting up a solar power plant to generate 1MW power, skywalks to help pedestrians on Saravanampatty - Thudiyalur Road, at Trichy Road - Nanjundapuram Road Junction and Nallampalayam Road – Mettupalayam Road Junction, hockey ground at the Corporation school on Arokiasamy Road, R.S. Puram, and a shop to help SHG women sell their produce.
These projects are pretty nice. The implementation of the wifi-enabled city project is predicted to be costing at around Rs. 1.50 crore and the Rs. 25 lakh has also been allotted to establish an electronic waste warehouse in the city.
