Hyderabad needs smart colonies

Safety has become a major issue in many of the colonies right now. There are many crimes that are happening and we need to be careful, Schemes like this will be beneficial for the public now.

RIght now, representatives from many colony associations have also expressed their desire to participate in the concept at their own cost. Police department will work as facilitators among all these colonies.

Yes, and as many as 13 colonies in the North Zone have already adopted the concept. Moreover, the Safe Colony concept is purely voluntary in nature. There are no compulsions from the police.

This concept is actually called the safe city concept that is started by the government The Safe City concept was initiated in Hyderabad in November 2014, covering 40 colonies, where the safety measures have been taken care of.

Police in the state are also actively participating in this. The police will make a note of house owners and service providers, increase patrolling and install CCTVs at the entry/exit points, isolated areas and open spaces among other things.

Right now, the owners and the residents of the colony are only coming forward to implement the safety measures in their own colonies, Mnay people are concerned about the safety nowadays.

I have heard so too, and now following the safety measures taken at the Mamatha Colony, the Cyberabad commissionerate has identified 215 other colonies in its jurisdiction where safety measures will be amplified.

Actually, I have heard that the Mamatha Colony is a good example for the smart colony concept. That colony is very secure and well developed. It is an ideal place to live in .

If you ask me, colonies should be self sustainable. The state government should integrate the existing cultural and social structure and each society should have its own character.

I think they should also provide Wi-Fi and broadband connectivity, high-end planned infrastructure including board roads, drainage, parks and streetlights as well. In many of the colonies, there is no proper lihtning right now.

The Government is palnning to make the colonies tech savvy as well. Many facilities like high-level gadgets, surveillance tracking systems, e-governance concepts, connectivity and networking as well.

Many of the residents in the city also want other basic amenities like fundamental issues rain water harvesting pits, water re-cycling methods and minimising solid waste management by having de-centralised waste management system.

Yeah, and in case of safety measures, the colony should have advanced police measures like entry-exit monitoring, identifying all en-routes internal lanes, CCTV, increased patrolling, point books and record of owners and service providers. The government wants to provide all these.

Yeah, so basically the plan is that the colony should provide seamless services to its residents and all departments, municipality, fire, police, water should work properly in the colony.
