24,000 crore Rs. worth of power projects to reach Telangana
Q: Hi, Are there any power related projects that is expected to reach Telangana any time soon? There is a lot of problem related to electricity around here?
That's just not it. The release further said that the REC agreed to a government proposal to reduce the interest rate on its loan by 0.5 percent which will reduce the interest burden by about Rs 600 crore.
Here is a bit of a detail on how it will be worked out. About 1.2 tmc ft of water will be drawn from Godavari river for the Bhadradri power plant while the power plant in Nalgonda district will draw around 4.6 tmc ft of water from Krishna river.
The release that the government left out a while ago said the they are in pursuit of identifying and acquiring lands that are suitable for the project along with the water sources where the projects can be brought up.
Regarding the MoUs, it was signed by the chairman of T Genco and the managing director D Prabhakar Rao and REC chairman and managing director Rajeev Sharma. This looks like a great prospect. Hope this actually goes through.
These projects if completed will totally change the power scenario in the state, you know. That would totally be great. Like if these are all done a total of 10,280 MW of power will be generated in the next 3 or 4 years.
A total of Rs 24,000 crore will be invested by the NTPC for its 4,000 MW project and the Singareni power project worth Rs 4,000 crore. Another Rs 21,500 crore will be invested in solar projects and evacuation and transmission lines.
A release from the chief minister's office has spoken out about this and has said that in all, the government has tied up for funding to the tune of some Rs 91,500 crore for power projects in the state to stop the issues with lack of power.
Apart from the funding from REC, the Power Finance Corporation is also providing over Rs 15,000 crore for the same projects. The Telangana Genco will, as its share in the projects, invest over Rs 3,000 crore.
You know the REC funds will be used for construction of the 800 MW unit at KTPS, 1,080 MW unit at Bhadradri in Manugur of Khammam district and 4,400 MW unit at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district among others.
I think the project will solve the power and electricity issues of the Telangana state by a large extent if it is done. I mean the plan here is to come up with projects that will put out a total of 6,280 MW in total.
Yes. There is a pretty big thing coming up in the city. The Telangana government has reached a memorandum of Understanding or MOU with the Rural Electric Corporation Limited that could grant the state with a 24 thousand crore rupees project.
