Great ideas!!
To add charm and spirit to the festival, one can invite all his/her neighbours to watch the snake boat race in his/her apartment. The tradition of snake boat race is still experienced with great solemnity and show in various parts of Kerala.

Women can take part in cultural activities like creating Pookkalam and performing dance art forms like Thiruvathirakali and Kummattikali. An apartment can also organize a competition of different dance forms.

If you ask to me, i will say like Deepawali, Onam is the celebration of happy moments. A firework show can be arranged in the apartment complex where all members can join and take pleasure watching the grand fireworks show. The fund for hosting such a show should be collected from all members to make it a program for all.

Onam is no longer limited to Malayalis. Onam, mainly, a Malayali festival, has now become a popular festival in many societies. As Keralites are very much spread in different parts of the country, So, it is no longer limited to Malayalis. In a housing complex where people from various cultures and different religions share their lives together, many Non-Keralites and North Indians, join Keralites for Onam celebration.

Hello Sir!!!!
The apartment management can organize an event within the apartment premises, where they can form a community and invite people to celebrate the festival with ritual and happiness.

The apartment management can invite people to create Pookkalam during the ten-day-long of Onam and they can also conduct a Pookkalam competition on "Thiruvonam", which is the main and ending day of Onam.

Well Rubiya....before giving reply to this question, i would like to express my feelings for this popular festival. Onam, the biggest and most popular harvest festival in India. It is the most superb festival celebrated by the people of Kerala. On this day, one can see colourful hues of flower patches on the ground in every home, display of mouth-watering dishes and elegant snake boat races.

Hence there are unique ways in which Onam can be celebrated in apartments. 1) Create an Athapookkalam in the apartment, 2) Organise a feast in the apartment, 3) Plan a party to watch the snake boat race on the television, 4) Onam games in the apartment, 5) Cultural activities for women, 6) Onam fancy dress competition, 7)Themed festival and 8) Onam gift exchange.

Right Sir,
Most of the families who lives in cities stay in apartments. For them there are limitation with regards to the manner in which they can celebrate Onam. The Onam carnival lasts for 4-10 days. It is believed that the spirit of Kind Mahabali visits the state of Kerala on Onam. Hence, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the honor of their beloved king. it is a festival of Malayalis specially.
