Hi everybody,
Earlier, On January 5, 2012, the CMC hiked the property tax by 20% for the entire city and accordingly tax was collected from property holders. Then suddenly a 300% to 900% hike in property tax by the civic body. I am quite unanswerable on it.

I am quite shocked that how ruling BJP had approved the hike in the general body meeting through a voice vote. Disappointment has seen in the several political party. City units of Congress, Shiv Sena and AAP too have stepped up their protest against the hike. AAP had taken out protest march in city on Friday to protest the hike.

Even, municipal commissioner has come out with hoardings in the city explaining the civic administration's stand over the hike. In his public declaration, the commissioner has agreed that the last revision of tax in year 2012 was faulty and manipulated by some employees and officers in tax department.

@Arushisha,
Social worker Vinod Dattatray on Saturday warned of pulling the civic body to the court if it fails to withdraw the hike.

It is totally illegal over the 300% to 900% hike in property tax by the Chandrapur civic body in Maharashtra. Hike in property tax by Chandrapur Municipal Corporation is illegal and in violation of Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act-1949. People demanded immediate rollback of the hike, or otherwise, they would knock the doors of court.
