Civic administrtaion presented smart city presentation in Thane
Q: Following a 2 hours long presentation demanding the GB nod, civic commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal informed the elected representatives of initiatives planned under the smart city concept that will be taken up sector-wise.
Nearly 3.5 lakh residents have responded to the TMC with their suggestions to help the administration chart out an action plan. They also need their concentration on uninterrupted water supply, safety and security for women and children and digitization of basic civic services that have been the focus areas for a better tomorrow.
Yes Ananya, But civic commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal assured that the development works to be undertaken would be beyond Thane. The transformation project for Thane will be a brownfield project that will require components and redeveloping existing structures.
I am not refusing that the existing near 50% of slum population will prove to be a huge challenge for the redevelopment process. Some of the projects to be undertaken will involve systematic waste management, uninterrupted water and power supply, improving connectivity issues, to name a few.
@Ananya, Over and above, elected representatives registered their approval for the project but with certain conditions. They have asked for the clarity to be given in the land use required for implementing the entire project. At the same time, they have demanded for clarity on utilization of funds.
Yes, they have got approval from the general body for its smart city presentation and has now started process to submit the same before the urban development department and has become part of the Center's ambitious urban makeover project.
