Holi Celebration in Your Apartment: Do’s & Don’ts

Just few more days and you will revel in the festival of colors and joy. Perhaps, one should be aware of the important aspects while celebrating this festival. Various accidents and injuries tend to happen on this occasion which can further lead to a chaos. One can avert these disasters by following simple steps mentioned below;

Holi Safety

Do’s:
Never go berserk while playing Holi. Always play Holi with a group of relatives you are familiar with.
Play Holi in a well-lit and ventilated area.
Make sure to play Holi in a selected place with acquainted people in order to avoid nasty miscreants.
Protect yourself from being attacked on your face. Keep your eyes and mouth shut in order to avoid swallowing the colours.
Avoid consuming bhang or any other eatable containing bhang.
Keep your car windows shut while driving in and around your apartment complex.

Don’ts:
Always remember that not everyone will be in the spirit of playing Holi. Do not forcibly apply the colours on a person’s face.
Do not encourage your children or adults from playing with eggs. Throwing eggs at people not only annoys them but also can leave a stale stench behind.
Do not indulge yourself in bhang, drinks or food as this may lead to a pandemonium.
Avoid spilling water on the floor and prevent children from running on wet floors as this may result in a slippery floor.
Do not drive or ride if you have consumed any hallucinogens.
Do not create a racket which might upset your neighbours and also set an optimistic celebrating example for your children.
Women and children should avoid walking all alone on streets/in the apartment premises as they tend to become targets of miscreants.
Never spray the colourful water on your neighbour’s vehicles, walls and other commodities.

Environment Friendly Holi
Do’s:

In order to play a safe and Eco-friendly Holi make use of only powered natural/ organic colors with a least amount of water. Usage of home-made colors is the best option.
Use more of Pink and Red colour, as they are easy to clean.
Always keep a bucket of clean water around while playing Holi in order to avoid the usage of grimy or contaminated water.
To make a bonfire make use of dry wood rather than wet wood. One can also avoid the bonfire and replace this activity with an entertaining activity.
Make yourself aware of the importance of this festival and its religious significance rather than making it a dirty game.

Don’ts:

Do not use chemical based colors, which are highly carcinogenic. Avoid using water balloons as well, as they are harmful for your health & environment.
Do not make use of permanent dyes, as the removal procedure is really complicated.
Say No to Noise pollution on Holi celebration. One can always celebrate a safe Holi, by spending a nice and quality time with their family and friends at their apartment rather than being a part of a noisy group.
Play Holi away from your garden plants and do not pour the coloured water on plants.
Do not throw water balloons in others flats or on walls.

Holi care for Skin & Eyes:

Do’s:
Remember to wear your old denims/ rough fabrics with bright colours in order to avoid the colours being absorbed by your clothes. Also wear worst of your footwear which are disposable after the celebration.
Protect your hair from being turning into colourful hues. One can cover their head with a hat, cap or a scarf. They can also oil their hair.
To protect your skin you can use a sunscreen or any edible oil which will make it easier for you to get rid of the colour on your skin. One can also wear dental caps to protect their teeth from staining.
Protect your eyes from the colourful darts by wearing sunglasses.
Use lukewarm water to wash away the colours.

Don’ts:
Never use dirty, contaminated water while playing. This can cause various infections.
Always play Holi in a selected place and avoid creating a mess all over the apartment parking areas or common areas.
