Vastu direction for Bathroom in your home

In remote past bathrooms and toilets were built detached from main house because of different hygienic and vastu aspects. However, in modern apartments toilets and bathrooms are found as integrated part of floor plan and attached to rooms.

According to vastu recommendation, toilets and bathrooms should be located at the west side or, at the most, Northern western side of house; however, if none of these two positions are available, North-eastern corner of the house can be proposed for making the bathroom and toilet. However, south side should be mostly avoided for making bathroom as south side bathroom or toilet may cause negative effect on the health of women members of family residing at the house.

We should avoid as much as possible making of toilet in eastern side, central position, or at the southeast side of a house. As per modern style, toilets and bathrooms are made nowadays in a combined way. The North West side is the best location for these combo bathrooms, and never for North east direction. A Bathroom should never be adjacent to puja room, kitchen or below the stairs. In the bathroom, toilet water should leave in southwestern direction, and ideally septic tank should be placed on the north west side of the house, although if required this place can be altered /adjusted a bit. However, septic tank should never be of the same height of the house, rather it should be built higher than general floor level of the house.

Inside the bathroom, there are several vastu recommendations for positioning of the sink, bathtub, and geyser, etc. accessories. Geyser and other electrical appliances, such as heater and switchboard, needs to be fitted in south eastern corner of the bathroom. Ideally taps and showers are to be fixed at northern direction. The placement of bathtubs at west, north eastern direction, or on west direction is highly solicited, and for vanity mirror the north side of the bathroom is best recommended.

Water closets are to be placed in the western side and southern side of a toilet. A water-closet ideally to be placed near the bathroom window or near an outer wall in the toilet. Exhaust fans are essential for ventilation in a bathroom. The slope of the floor ideally should be of northern direction however, if the slope is made toward south-east or at south west direction, as it is anticipated by vastu to create negative impact on prosperity and economic security of the house. If there is a change room to be built inside the bathroom, it should be in west or in south direction. Washing machine should be placed in southern-east and northern-west directions if necessary.

The door of the bathroom should be at the northern or eastern direction but never on southern-western direction of a bathroom/toilet. Ideally the position of the window of the bathroom is to be located at north, east, and western direction of the bathroom. If the window is placed on the southern direction, it is believed to create an adversarial effect on health.
