Miyapur is one of the suburbs in Hyderabad and is a part of Greater Hyderabad. The place is part of NH9 and is in close vicinity with the Pune-Hyderabad-Machilipatnam highway. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) takes care of the municipal developments of the area.
It was incorporated as a part of India after September 17, 1948 which was util then ruled by the then Hyderabad Nizam. It was a village then and is now a part of Ranga Reddy district. This district was known as Hyderabad (Rural) District earlier but was formed on 15 August 1978 and renamed after deleting some parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It was named after the Late Sri K. V. Ranga Reddy, the then Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Some of the adjacent areas include Chandanagar, Hafeezpet, Hydernagar, Nizampet, Kukatpally, Bachupally, Medak district, Ameenpur, etc. Miyapur lies in the border of Ranga Reddy district at one end and Medak district at the other.
