Major challenges
The roads in Mahurali are in a bad shape for the past one year. Buses avoid this stretch extending from Qutub Minar to Mehrauli terminal because of the numerous potholes. In spite of the attempts made by civic authorities to fix the road, it hasn’t yielded any results. This in turn has resulted in the problem of waterlogging during monsoons, adding to the woes of the residents.
Water scarcity is another issue the locality has been dealing with for the past few years. The residents of Mahurali claim that they have to, sometimes, rely on expensive water tankers, which isn’t always a feasible option.
Factors for growth in the future
The project to upgrade the six-lane NH-24 to eight lanes is on the verge of completion. Once ready, it will tackle the issue of traffic congestion in the area. There are plans to further extend these eight lanes to fourteen lanes to facilitate Meerut Expressway. Once these projects are completed, traffic snarls on the busy NH-24 will reduce to a great extent.
There are plans to expand the Delhi Metro line to Ghaziabad, by extending the Blue Line from Vaishali to Mehrauli en route Indirapuram. Moreover, a number of projects like Aditya Urban Homes, Divyansh Skardi Greens and Wall Rock Aishwaryam Gold have been lined up along NH-24, and will be completed in a few years’ time, propelling further growth in this locality.
