Overview :
New Alipore is situated in the south of Alipore bordered by the Budge Budge section of the Kolkata Suburban Railway between Majerhat and Tollygunge Stations. The locality comes under the supervision of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. It is one of the better planned and posh areas of the city and is home to a wide variety of people. The area has a planned underground drainage system and street lighting. This locality is mainly dominated by business class families. This locality is bordered by the Majerhat and Tollygunge Stations to the north, the B.L. Saha Road (Chetla) to the east, Diamond Harbour Road to the west and Behala to the South. The prominent area located close to New Alipore is Chetla, Kalighat, Tollygunge, Behala, Majerhat, Alipore, Ballygunge, etc. New Alipore Railway station is very close to the locality. New Alipore Road, Alipore Road, and Station Roads are three major arterial roads which further links New Alipore to NH 12. The locality has a prominent college like New Alipore College established in the year 1963. Some of the key projects in New Alipore is Ganges Castle, Purti Nest, PS Vyom, Parnasree Green Phase 2, Ideal Exotica, Akshara Vilaas among others.
Connectivity :
The locality of New Alipore is connected to all parts of the city by extensive bus services (CSTS), SD Bus, WBSTC Bus Lines, tram, auto rickshaw, cabs, taxis are easily available.
New Alipore has two nearby railway stations, New Alipore Station (formerly known as Kalighat Station) and Majerhat Railway Station on the Budge Budge section of the Kolkata Suburban Railway and Kolkata Circular Railway. Howrah Railway Station is the major railway station which connects Kolkata to other metro cities situated at a distance of 11 km via Alipore Road.
Phase-1 of Kolkata Metro Rail is passing through the localities. The nearest metro stations are Kalighat and Rabindra Sarobar.
It has close connectivity to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, which is located at a distance of 26 km via Thakurnagar-Panchpota Road.
Factors for growth in the past :
Its close proximity to International Airport, Howrah Junction along with major IT Hubs of the city have been a plus point, driving residential demand and development in the locality. IT workforce working in Newtown and Sector-v want their residence close to their workplace, thus, creating demand for rental property in New Alipore as well.
The extended metro service from Tollygunge to Garia has further eased the traffic in the suburban portion of South Kolkata.
Proposed & Planned Infra :
Several flyovers and underpasses are either under construction or will soon be constructed to improve connectivity.
Construction of EM Bypass connector from Padmapukur to Kamalgachi is already in progress.
US-listed IT services company Genpact has tied up with Kolkata-based Simplex Infra, for co-development of a technology park in Kolkata.
The under-construction Inland Waterways India's multi-modal terminal at Haldia. The entire infrastructure for National Waterways-1 will be ready by the end of 2019.

The locality has some of the best international schools in the city. Schools affiliated to various boards of education are also present here.
