About Puzhal

Situated in the northern part of Chennai, Puzhal is one among the 163 megalithic areas in the state of Tamil Nadu. Puzhal Lake, a prominent water body in the city, and a rain-fed reservoir that supplies water to Chennai, is one of the most distinguished features of this locality, along with the Puzhal central prison. Due to its status as a military camp during the British Rule, Puzhal is also popularly called as “Camp”.

Apart from being a host to many natural and man made attractions, Puzhal offers praiseworthy social and civic infrastructure. Reputed educational institutions in the area include Vellammal Engineering College, Sri Nallalaghu Nadar Polytechnic College, and Erikarai School.
