It is a part of Kothrud locality which is located about 850 meter from Shastri nagar.  This area mainly covers a slum line in Kothrud including Sagar Colony, Guru Ganesh Nagar, Shantiban Society, Maurya Vihar, Navbhumi Colony, Shastri Nagar and some part till Vivekanand Road. Pune city is located at a distance of 7 km while Mumbai is about 150 km away from Shastri Nagar. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Road is the only internal road for Shastri Nagar. Other major roads are DP Road and Paud Road which further has its access with Mumbai Highway (NH 48).
