Sitapur derives its name from Sita, wife of Lord Rama. It is a place that comes with a rich tradition and culture. This region was particularly famous for its unique styles of embroidery, like ‘Chikankari’ and ‘Zardozi’.

 

A lot of damage was done to the city during the first war of Indian Independence, in 1857. One can still see the effects of this in the form of dilapidated buildings in this region.
