Soman and Associates (SAA) was founded in 1970 as a civil engineering contracting firm. When it started in 1970 as contractors, one of their first projects was the Kalyan-based National Rayon Corporation. The project was the construction of their staff quarters. Soon enough, they had graduated to bigger things. SAA was awarded the prestigious contract of building the entire Petro-Chemical Complex for National Peroxide Limited (A Bombay Dyeing Group Company) in 1975 under the supervision of Gherzi Eastern Limited. This complex comprised utility buildings, administration buildings, chemical tank farms, pipe racks, etc.
